Welcome back to the 2017 season. We are fast approaching the start of the season with pre-season training and games underway.
The Axemen’s Club are looking to “revitalise” themselves this year and are well under way with developing a strategy to achieve this. The Axemen has proven an excellent vehicle for some club members to remain in contact, for some to have a greater social return from membership and for some to contribute to the success and development of the club through targeted sponsorship and donations.
Sponsoring Colts, the electronic scoreboard, sound system, working bees, playground contribution, Crying Towel, Christmas dinner, pint nights, digitization of the club photos, the Richie and Jock photo, being excellent supporters around the club and holding up a table at the north end.
However the trustees are now actively looking at how the Axemen can possibly be more for more members, through holding a more relevant place in the offering of the Christchurch Football Club. So don’t sit back, make sure you renew your membership and get a mate along to the Axemen as well so you both can take advantage of the new offering.
This year the club has membership cards for all Axemen to show at the bar when we purchase drinks (which is a bar licensing requirement) and to get some points for yourself and the Axemen.
It is important with all this in mind that we get stuck into the membership this year so we can get the names and numbers to the printers for paid up members.
If you can recall - please let us know you the year you joined the Axemen for our records (email is fine).
We are slightly short of members given the club is 154 years old so if you have anyone who is interested in joining the Axemen please get them to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me on 021 599 868. The alternative is to grab one of the boys at the table on a Saturday afternoon and ask for a membership form.
The way to cement your place is to get the fees paid via direct credit or sending a cheque to Southee. Fees are being held at $100 for 2017.
Bank Deposit (preferred) can be made at the ANZ Bank. Use Account Number 06-0583-0790533-00 using your surname and Axemens Number (if you have one) as the reference.
Cheques can be sent to:
P O Box 21-302
This year we are going to kick off Pint Night again on as well as the traditional Crying Towel Luncheon here at the club (We hope to outnumber the visitors this year). Christmas function in 2016 was a highlight and we will look to repeat that in 2017.
Lastly, our AGM is on the and we welcome all members and prospective members to this. Our current trustees are Andrew McKeller, Don Quested, Jerry Rowberry, Aaron Kitto, Craig Armstrong, Brian South and Wayne Sapwell.
We look forward to seeing you in 2017 and give 'em the Axe!
